Tyler's Dedication/Mother's Day
Tyler's dedication to God and the church was held at Elkview Baptist Church on Mother's Day, May 10th. Colin and I went to the front of the church to dedicate Tyler. How fitting to dedicate him to God since it is only by God's hands that he is here with us.
I was born on July 28, 2008. I started out my life with a rough start but I am fighting my way through it all so that I can spend many years playing with my big brother, Colin. My heart is larger than it should be but that just gives me more room to LOVE!
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the most common form of heart muscle disease affecting 50-60% of children with cardiomyopathy. "Dilated" refers to the enlarged or stretched muscle fibers fo the heart. DCM usually starts in the left ventricle, the chamber that pumps blood to the body. The heart muscle becomes weak and is unable to pump blood efficiently, forcing the heart to work harder and the heart chamber to enlarge.
DCM occurs at a rate of 6 per million children. It is more commonly diagnosed in younger children with the average age of diagnoses at 2 years.
